New projects on social and solidarity economy

Smilemundo, Social economy

We have started a process of transnational cooperation with the Citizens’ Initiatives Center in Słupsk to explore and transfer good practices on social economy from Barcelona to this municipality in northern Poland.

Within this collaboration framework, we plan to develop several projects. One of the projects, Time of Change, will implement new socio-occupational inclusion practices in Słupsk. It’s addressed to a group of excluded people from rural areas, facing such problems as alcoholism and long-term unemployment. This project is already running and will continue until the end of the year.

Last March, a delegation, including members of the Polish organization and the Social Services of the municipality administration, came to Barcelona to work together with Smilemundo. During their stay, they were able to receive firsthand knowledge about the work of different social entities and administrations in the areas of inclusion and integration.

In April and October, new meetings will take place in the Catalan city and, finally, a working methodology will be created which, among other materials, will include a role-playing game and a website.

About the Citizens’ Initiatives Center

Centrum Inicjatyw Obywatelskich (CIO) has been working on the development of initiatives within the third sector since 1994 with the aim of creating spaces for discussion between citizens and the administration. In recent years, the CIO has designed projects to support the social and solidarity-based economy in Poland, with the aim of promoting it at local, regional and national level.

All of the projects that Smilemundo is carrying out with CIO are funded through the European Union’s POWER (Knowledge, Education and Development) program.
