Learning Module: Localizing the SDGs

Development, Education, Smilemundo

One of our last projects was for the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG),who asked us to design a training methodology that could be used by the representatives of the local and regional governments to locate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The result is the Learning Module: Localizing the SDGs, which provides a series of strategies and necessary knowledge in order to promote participatory work and the exchange of ideas and experiences between local and regional governments and other collaborators.

The guide has already been used in different training sessions, in cities as diverse as Quito, Cape Verde, Durban, Jakarta, Puebla or Cochabamba. As Smilemundo we have directly led some of these trainings (Barcelona, Madrid, Brussels…).

A second module, named Translating the Principles of the SDGs to Local and Regional Plans, is currently in its final stages.

The methodology has been developed in collaboration with Tornos Abogados and with the support of UNDP, UN-Habitat, Global Taskforce and the Diputación de Barcelona.
